Use Onion For Good Health

"Onion is a good correction for all excess wetness. Onion improves the flavor of foods and eliminates phlegm"

Use Onion for Good Health
The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim described some of the health benefits of onions in his great work “The Prophetic medicine.” He said that onions were beneficial for expelling toxic odors from the body, cleansing the stomach and improving complexion.
He specifically mentioned the benefits of onion seeds for:
The treatment of leukoderma (a chronic skin disease that causes loss of pigment, resulting in irregular pale patches of skin);
Effective against alopecia when applied as an ointment;
Mixing onion seeds with honey and using as a kohl for the treatment of leucoma (an eye disease consisting of an opaque white spot on the cornea).

Ibn-al Qayyim also mentioned applying onion juice in the ear to treat ear and hearing problems. He said that cooked onion was beneficial for jaundice and a cough.
One of the drawbacks he mentioned of eating raw onion was that it can cause bad breath, but these effects could be eliminated by cooking the onion.

What Are onions?
Onions are a member of the lily family and there are two basic types:
Bulb-forming: these are the onions commonly used in cooking, and consist of many varieties including white, yellow and Spanish onions.
Perennial: these are clusters of onions that can be replanted to produce another crop of onions.
Onions contain quercetin, a powerful flavonoid antioxidant. Onions are an excellent source of fiber, Vitamin C and folate. Phytochemicals found in onions, particularly allyl sulfides, appear to reduce the risk of some cancers.
Some of the health benefits of onions found in recent studies include:
Cancer: Yellow onions were found to contain the third highest level of phenolic (a type of antioxidant), of all vegetables in an American study, and were fourth highest in anticancer-growth activity.
Lung Cancer: onions are rich in the phytochemical quercetin, and a study showed the beneficial effects this has on lung cancer; people who increased their onion consumption decreased their risk of developing lung cancer.
Colon and Liver Cancer: researchers at Cornell University found that stronger-tasting onions were more effective at inhibiting the growth of liver and colon cancer cells than milder-tasting onions.
Heart Health: Allyl sulfides, found in onions, decrease the tendency of blood clots to form, which can significantly lower LDL cholesterol levels. A study of Japanese women found that those with the highest onion intake had the lowest LDL cholesterol.

Another study, conducted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that stronger-tasting and stronger-smelling onions made blood platelets less sticky, therefore reducing the risk of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, heart attack and stroke.

Tip on Using Onions
Avoid onions that are soft, whose skin is wet, or that are sprouting.
Onions do not have to be eaten raw to obtain maximum health benefits; quercetin is relatively stable while being cooked so retains its powerful effects.
Cooking onions gives them a sweeter taste, and prolonged heat causes the sugars to brown the onion, known as caramelizing .
Slicing an onion causes its cell walls to tear, which releases a sulfur compound called propanethial S-oxide, and this can cause eye irritation. This effect can be reduced by placing the onion in the refrigerator an hour before cutting. Cutting an onion under running water can also reduce irritation to the eyes.

This wonderful vegetable, one of the oldest edible source known to humankind,is found in a bewildering array of having many health benefits:-
(1)Onions are very low in calories (just 40 cal per 100 g) and fats; but rich in soluble dietary fiber.
(2)Studies shown that onions have anti-mutagenic (protects from cancers) and anti-diabetic properties (helps lower blood sugar levels in diabetics).
(3) It’s also found to have anti-bacterial,anti-viral and anti-fungal activities.
(4)Onions also blocks platelet clot formation and has fibrinolytic action in the blood vessels which, helps decrease overall risk of coronary artery disease (CAD),peripheral vascular diseases (PVD),and stroke. and
(5)Onions are good in B-complex group of vitamins like pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, folates and thiamin.
Pyridoxine or vitamin B-6 helps keep up GABA levels in the brain, which works against neurotic conditions.
Thus, eat as much onions as you can, since in has a lot of health benefits with little or no side effects.
"Raw onions cause forgetfulness.
An excess of cooked onions causes headache and forgetfulness"

Religion and Happiness

Now surely the friends of Allah, they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve. Those who believe and guarded (against evil): They shall have good news in this world's life and in the hereafter; there is no changing the words of Allah; that is the mighty achievement. Noble Qur'an (10:62-64)

Happiness is a feeling that resides in the heart. It is characterized by peace of mind, tranquility, a sense of well-being, and a relaxed disposition. It comes as a result of proper behavior, both inward and outward, and is inspired by strong faith.

It is the nature of every person to seek happiness. One of the most elusive objectives of every human being is "Happiness." The Noble Qur'an reveals the secret of attaining perfect happiness in this life and forever. We learn from the Noble Qur'an that happiness is an exclusive quality of the soul. Thus, a body that attains all the material successes it longs for - money, power, fame, etc. - often belongs to an unhappy person. Happiness depends totally on the degree of growth and development attained by the soul, the real person. The Noble Qur'an provides a detailed map towards perfect happiness for both body and soul, both in this world and in the eternal Hereafter.

In the numerous verses throughout this proven Testament, Allah (SWT) personally guarantees the believers happiness, now and forever. Some people strive to seek material happiness in this world away from religion, thinking that this is the true happiness. But this kind of happiness will be succeeded by pain and sorrow at the Day of Judgment, and its people will know that their striving led them only to misery and not happiness.

While others know that the true way to happiness is to obey Allah (SWT) and follow His religion. For them the pleasures and riches of the world are of little consequence. When this happiness penetrates and fills the heart of the believer he does in fact live in this world as if he were in Paradise. Those are the people who find true happiness in this world.

What kind of happiness could be greater than that of someone who humbles himself to Allah (SWT), seek to please Allah (SWT), worships Him, strives for His pleasure, and strives to enter Paradise and have salvation from Hellfire?
The believer lives with such a sweetness in his heart that if the masters of the earth knew of it, they would fight him to death to takeit from him. Allah (SWT) has said: "Whoever does good whether male or female and he is a believer, We will most certainly make him live a happy life, and We will most certainly give them their reward for the best of what they did." Noble Qur'an (16:97)
Happiness is in the good life mentioned in this verse, that even the rich disbelievers cannot find, despite the money they have. That is why we are not surprise when we know that many among them committed suicide.

To reach true happiness, we need to know what is the purpose of our life, how to reach success in the hereafter, and to fulfill the requirements of reaching this success by following the commands of Allah (SWT) and His true religion.

We know much about Mars, Earth, moon, stars, and galaxies, thanks to the century of knowledge. But how much we know about our eternal life after death and how to reach success in the hereafter?

People need to eat every day to supply their bodies with energy and to keep themselves healthy. If they stop eating for a period of time, diseases will sneak up upon them and overtake them, and perhaps even kill them. Similarly, people also need food of another kind, food for the spirit and heart. It is unfortunate that while people are careful never to forget to feed their bodies, they do not show the same concern for the health of their souls and hearts. The heart needs food as the body does. The diseases of the body and the debilitating effects they have are not more dangerous than the diseases of the heart and soul.

Be Careful What You Plant

Once upon a time. There was a rich merchant who had four (4) wives.

He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!" Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.
The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart.
The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.
He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out: "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition.
Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!"

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.

Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament.

Father and Son

A father came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

Son: "Father, may I ask you a question?"
Father replied: "Yeah sure, what it is?"

Son: "Father, how much do you make an hour?"
Father said angrily: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?"

Son: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?"
Father: "If you must know, I make $20 an hour."

"Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down. Looking up, he said, "Father, may I please borrow $10?"
The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such childish behavior."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

Father sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After about an hour or so, the father had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10 and he really didn't ask for money very often.

The father went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.
"Are you asleep, son?" Father asked.
"No Father, I am awake," replied the little boy.
"I have been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier," said the father. "It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $10 you asked for."
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you Father!" He yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The father, seeing that the little boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.
"Why do you want more money if you already have some?" the father grumbled.
"Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied.
"Father, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."

Moral of the Story: Share this story with someone you like... But even better, share $20 worth of time with someone you love. It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.
We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days.
But the family and friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family. An unwise investment indeed!
So what is the moral of the story?
Don't work too hard...and you know what the full word of FAMILY is?

THE DANGERS OF SUGAR

Refined sugar is very high in calories but completely void of nutrients. The processes it undergoes completely strips out anything from sugar cane that is worth consuming. Then the food industry adds sugar to other nutrient lacking packaged foods to improve the taste and the effect is twice as detrimental on human health.
Sugar is cheap to grow and produce and highly addictive because it affects the brain providing a temporary and unnatural 'feel good' factor. This is also why the food industry adds so much of it to so many products. They are actually profiting from legally creating addicted consumers then very slowly poisoning them to death.
Because the adverse affects of sugar take so long to materialise and go unnoticed for years the food industry gets away with it and the person consuming the sugar often puts their illnesses and conditions down to other factors.
The food industry and the media has also manage to convince the general public that fat, not sugar, is the cause of obesitywhen, in fact. fat is needed by the body to absorb nutrients and for many other important processes. Cutting out fats can actually lead to obesityas well as high LDL cholesterol, heart disease, neurological disorders(the brain is made of fats), malnutrition and many other conditions. Refined sugar, however, is not needed in any form by the body and is the root cause of obesityand many other diseases.
Because refined sugar has no nutrients it robs the body of precious nutrients needed to metabolise it and gives nothing back which can lead to nutrient deficiency. It causes calcium expulsion and other important nutrients to be lost from the bones which leads to weakened bones, arthritis, painful joint problems, osteoporosis, tinnitus, deafnessand tooth decay.
High intake of sugar not only displaces calories from needed nutrients, but also interferes with the body's metabolism of nutrients, leading to damage of the liver, digestive system, kidneys, heart, brain, eyes, ears, skinand nearly every other bodily organ.
Sugar feeds cancercells, parasites, pathogenic bacteria, virusesand yeasts, triggers weight gain and addiction which leads to lipoma, Dercum's disease, acne and skin disordersand promotes premature aging.
The entire burden of metabolizing sugar falls on the liver, where excess is quickly converted into fat, which explains the weight gain and abdominal obesityof those that over indulge in sugar. It is the primary cause of non-alcoholic fatty liver and elevates uric acid which can cause gout. It also raises the blood pressure, stresses the kidneysand leads to the chronic, low-level inflammation that is at the core of most chronic diseases.
It is especially dangerous if there are signs of insulin resistance such as being overweight, or having high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterolor diabetes.
Sugar is loaded into soft drinks, fruit juices, sports drinks and hidden in almost all processed foods. And now most infant formulas have the sugar equivalent of one can of Coca-Cola, so babies are being metabolically poisoned from day one if taking formula. Is this because the food industry wants them to become addicted and accustomed to sugar as early as possible? There is no other possible explanation because refined sugar is completely useless to the human body.
Corn syrup is another profuse additive in foods which is very high in sugar and contains no nutrients from corn but it sounds 'healthy' so people are beguiled into accepting and ingesting it.
America has the largest obesity problem in the world because they consume far more sugar and processed foods, however, the rest of the world will catch up eventually because processed foods are beginning to reach all corners of the planet. In 1893, there were just three cases of diabetesper 100,000 people in the United States. Today, diabetes strikes almost 8,000 out of every 100,000 people.
The problem with diabetesis that doctors treat it with medications that allow the continued abuse of the body instead of just prescribing a sugar free diet. The same can be said for many other conditions which are treated with medications when the abolition of sugar and processed foods would have cured the patient.
Coffee compounds the problem because it too contains no nutrients but does possess dangerous chemicals and causes malabsorption of nutrients and many illnesses and conditions including obesity. See the Coffee Dangerspage.
Artificial additives and sweeteners also add to the dilemma because they too provide no nutrients but contain chemicals which cause many conditions and illnesses.
Then, if all that is not enough for the human body to contend with, powerful toxic pesticides, herbicides and fungicidesare used on food causing toxic build up in human organs.
Intense mass farming techniques leach necessary minerals from the soil, and hence from crops, causing malnutrition.
Unnatural hormones and antibiotics are added to intensely farmed animals which affect many processes in the body including the immune system of humans that ingest these animals.
Mega sized supermarkets have been able to financially wipe out local natural food providers leaving the population with no alternative but to buy refined sugar, salt and synthetic additive laden food products. Diseases like diabetes, allergies, asthma, respiratory disorders, heart disease, intestinal diseases, cancers, liver damage, bacterial infections, parasites, yeast infections, acneand other skin disorders, neurological disorders, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, deadly viruses(such as HIV/AIDS) and cancerhave increased steadily at the same rate as the growth of the processed and fast food outlets and pharmaceutical companies.
The massive increase in the consumption of sugar is one of the root causes of the huge increase in cases of all these conditions and diseases alongside alcohol(which also is high in sugar content), tobacco, air pollution, genetically modified foods, household and cosmetic toxins and powerful damaging medications. Relieving the body of just one of these slow painful killers will help but relieve the body of most, if not all of them and complete health and vitality will return.
The economy has suffered due to the infiltration of large corporate structures and the media and marketing campaigns that are controlling the food and drugs ingested by the general public. Ill health and an aging population is now becoming a huge financial burden for developed countries. Encouraging local natural food producers and healthy sugar free eating could be the solution that could turn the world's economy around and would also enable the entire world's population to have enough highly nutritious food to eat. It would also provide quality of life not just longevity with disabling conditions caused by medications.
Are these industries trying to poison the planet for financial gain or are people simply allowing this trend of consuming nutrient free poisonous foods such as sugar to take control of their lives? If all processed foods were replaced by high nutrition, additive and chemical free natural foods, most of the worlds diseases and disabilities would disappear. It seems humans are being held captive by their own desires for a sweet and easy life made possible by consuming sugar, coffee, alcohol, drugs, fast food, premade meals and processed foods and ignoring the detrimental consequences disability, degenerative disease and ill health that will catch up with them in the end.
Education and awareness of the importance of good nutrition for the human body is vital. People need to know exactly what is in the food and medications they consume and be aware of the damage that ingesting it can do. Side affects listed on medications are not 'side affects'. They are warnings of the possible outcome of ingestion depending upon the state of the body's balance of nutrients, metabolism and immune system processes but they are largely ignored because the patient relies on the doctor's advice. Doctors need to be made more aware of the importance of nutrition and the consequences of over consumption of poisonous addictive substances such as sugar and prescribe healthy diets instead of powerful toxic drugs for every condition and infection.

ALTERNATIVES TO SUGAR
deadly as any drug addiction but is a very slow, painful and silent killer. It is also easier to become addicted when all processed foods contain so much sugar. People do not even realise they are addicted to sugar if the food they desire all the time is, in fact, a savoury dish. But they will more often than not find it contains sugar in the ingredients. Unlike drug addiction there is an easy way to recover. Choose other sweet foods, such as organic fruit, that are natural and contain lots of nutrients that help their sugars be used in the body in the right way and never again eat anything processed.
There are so many natural healthy alternatives to sugar which are highly nutritious and just as sweet tasting but most people seem unaware of this and turn to the easy option of a spoonful of sugar.
Honeyis one of the best alternatives as long as it is pure and unrefined or blended. Acacia and Manuka honey are more nutritious and have a higher antibacterial enzyme content.
Sweet fruits such as apples, apricots, bananas, berries, papaya, peaches, mango, melons, mosambi, soursopand watermeloncan be used to sweeten naturally and provide high levels of phytonutrientsthe body needs on a daily basis. Use the juices or pulp in place of sugar in recipes or drinks.
Dried fruit such as dates, figs, prunesand raisins and sultanasare highly nutritious and can be used to sweeten both sweet and savoury dishes.
Sweet vegetables such as beetroot, butternut squash, parsnips, peas, seaweed, sweet potato, swedecan give a delicate sweet taste to dishes as well as provide high levels of phytonutrientsthe body needs on a daily basis. They are best steamed or juiced.
Many aromatic herbs and spices can add both sweetness and flavours as well as very high nutrition to the diet. See the Herbs and Spicespage

REPAIRING SUGAR DAMAGE
Carnosineand carnitineare natural compounds in the human body that have been shown to prevent the damage caused by excess sugar and they can reverse the development of advanced glycation end products that lead to disease. The heart muscle and vascular system are very sensitive to the effects of free radical damage and protein degradation from sugar glycation. When critical proteins become non-functional from sugar accumulation, the heart and endothelial structures lose their elasticity and blood pressure rises.
Elevated glucose causes destructive changes to vital enzymes and proteins that set the stage for metabolic syndrome and tissue damage. This problem is particularly devastating in diabeticsas blood sugar levels remain elevated throughout the day and sugar-protein cross links wreak havoc with renal health, vision, the brainand the nervous system.
Foods rich in carnosine and carnitine are: beef, cheese, halibut, milk, oily fish, shellfish, poultry, tuna, venison

THE NATURE CURES DIET
TO BOOST THE IMMUNE SYSTEM AND RECOVER FROM SUGAR DAMAGE
A wholesome healthy diet of the natural foods below will boost the immune system and help the body to recover from sugar damage as well as fight off virus, fungaland bacteriainfections naturally. If this diet is kept to it will boost the immune system and protect the intestines and the body from any future attacks and infections indefinitely.A noticeable difference will be felt within just one week.
The Phytonutrients, Minerals, Proteinand Fibrepages can help you understand body processes and the natural foods it needs to function correctly. The nutritional value of foods is important. Wasting valuable time eating the wrong foods especially sugar is damaging the body further and allowing viruses, pathogenic bacteriaand parasites and wormsto flourish each time they are consumed. They all reproduce so fast that just one high sugar and low nutrient meal can help them spread to other parts of the body and cause immeasurable damage.
Stay away from substances that will damage the body further; alcohol, coffee, medications, artificial additivessuch as aspartame, pesticide, fungicides, herbicidesand household and cosmetic toxins. Click the links to visit the pages about these dangerous substances.
Only eat the following fruit and vegetables if they are organic because of the risk of pesticideingestion:Apples, Bell Peppers, Celery, Cherries, Cocoa Beans, Grapes, Nectarines, Peaches, Pears, Potatoes, Red Raspberries, Spinach, Strawberries.
Visit the Cleanse and Detoxifypage to try that regime first which can clear the body of toxins and infection. Then stick to the ANTEDIET religiously. This will ensure the repair of any sugar damage and prevent further illnesses. This is the only solution to recover from sugar damage.
To benefit from foods containing carotenoidslike tomatoes & carrots always eat together with fat rich foods like rapeseed oil, olive oil, nutsor avocadobecause carotenoids are fat-soluble, meaning they are only absorbed into the body along with fats and can then assist with the manufacture of the essential vitamin Anutrient.
Eating a wide variety daily (not just 5) of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices per day will set the body on the path to full healthTry steaming a wide selection of the vegetables listed with the herbs and spices listed and a tablespoon or two of bottled or filtered water (fastest in the in the microwave 8 minutes approx.) then place in a blender for a deliciously healthy potage soup and eat a small bowl before each meal. Similarly blend a wide selection of the fruits together with nutmeg, cinnamon and honey to provide a tasty nutritious 'smoothie'. Add live probiotic organic yoghurt to make the 'smoothie' or soup creamy.
Drinkplenty of bottled mineral w aterto avoid chemicals additives such as fluoride and chlorine and provide more of the essential mineralsthe body needs.

Because high sugar intake is likely to have damaged the intestines, liver, kidneys, bones, teeth, eyes, ears and affected the brain, skin, blood and nerves of the body visit the following pages to find out which natural foods can support and cure these afflictions:

Daily Morning Liver Cleanser
(to help the body clear out the overload of sugar on the liver)
lemonor limejuice, turmeric, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar, pure honey, rosemary
(all these five ingredients together taken in a glass of warm water first thing in the morning is a liver cleanser & detoxifier)
Avoid rosemaryif pregnant or breastfeeding or suffering from high blood pressure

Muslim Clothing Requirement

Introduction
To some as a subject the Muslim women's dress and Muslim men's clothing may sound trivial. The shari'ah, however, assigns it moral, social, and legal dimensions.
One basic requirement to be a true believer according to the Qur'an is to make one's opinions, feelings, and inclinations subservient to whatever Allah and his Messenger have decided.
It is not fitting for a believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Apostle, to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Apostle, he is indeed on a clearly wrong path. Surat-ul-Ahzab(33-36)

Placing, therefore, one's personal opinions, feelings, or inclinations above or at the same level as the commandments of Allah is the ultimate of human pride and vanity. This means, in effect, that a mortal is responding to Allah's guidance saying: '0 my creator! Your Law is Your Own opinion. I have my own opinion, and I know best what is good for me." This attitude is befitting for unbelievers and hypocrites, but not for a believer no matter how imperfect (all are!) one may be in implementing Islam in one's life. 2
The exposition of truth in an honest and straight forward way may thus cause some unease even to good and sincere Muslims. If may seem safer and diplomatic to avoid the issue altogether, or to present it in a diluted and vague way. It is even safer and more 'diplomatic' to explicitly or implicitly condone each others' infractions, to help each other find excuses and to rationalise our disobedience to Allah subhanahu wata'ala. This attitude is neither new nor is it without consequences. As the Qur'an presents it:
Curses were pronounced on those among the children of Israel who rejected faith, by the tongue of Dawood (David) and of Esa (Jesus) the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.
Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did. Surat-ul-Ma'idah(5) 81-...

Requirements Of Women's Dress
1. The First Requirement: Extent of Covering
The dress must cover the whole body except for the areas specifically exempted. The Qur'an states:
Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.
And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze
These 'ayahs contain, among other things, two main injunctions:
1. A Muslim woman should not display her beauty, and adornment (zeenah) except for "that which must ordinarily appear of it" 3(ma dhahara minha), or "that which is apparent." 4
The word zeenah 5 lends itself to two related meanings:
a. Natural or bodily beauty, 6
b. Acquired adornment such as rings, bracelets, and clothes.
The part of zeenah, exempted from the above injunction, was interpreted in two ways:
a. The face and the hands. This is the interpretation of the majority of the jurists, past and present.7
This interpretation is confirmed by ijma' (consensus) that a Muslim woman is allowed by Islam to uncover her face and hands during pilgrimage and even during the prayers, while the rest of her body is regarded as 'awrah (that which should be covered). 8
This interpretation is based on the authority of Prophet Muhammad (Allah's blessing be upon him), especially the hadith in which he says:
". . . If the woman reaches the age of puberty. No part of her body) should be seen but this - and he pointed to his face and hands."
b. Whatever appears of the woman's body owing to uncontrollable factors such as the blowing of the wind, or out of necessity such as the bracelets or even the outer clothes themselves. 9
2. The headcovers (knumur) should be drawn over the neck slits (joyoob). Khumur is the plural of the Arabic word "khimar" which means a headcover. 10Juyoob is the plural of the Arabic word "jaiyb" (a derivative of jawb or cutting) refers to the neck slit (of the dress). This means that the headcover should be drawn so as to cover not only the hair, but it could also be drawn over the neck and to be extended so as to cover the bosom.

2. The Second Requirement: Looseness
The dress must be loose enough so as not to describe the shape of a woman's body. This is consistent with the intent of the 'ayahs cited above (24: 30-31) and is surely a crucial aspect of hiding zeenah. Even moderately-tight clothes which cover the whole body do describe the shape of such attractive parts of the woman's body as the bustline, the waist, the buttocks, the back and the thighs. If these are not part of the natural beauty or zeenah what else is?
Prophet Muhammad pubh once received a thick garment as a gift. He gave it to Osamah b Zayd, who in turn gave it to his wife. When asked by the Prophet why he did not wear it, Osamah indicated that he gave it to his wife. The Prophet then said to Osamah "ask her to use a gholalahunder it (the garment) for I fear that it (the garment) may describe the size of her bones." 11The word gholalah in Arabic means a thick fabric worn under the dress to prevent it from describing the shape of the body.
A highly desirable way of concealing the shape of the body is to wear a cloak over the garment. The Prophet pubh, however, indicated that if the women's dress meets the Islamic standards it suffices (without a cloak) even for the validity of prayers. 12

3. The Third Requirement: Thickness
The dress should be thick enough so as not to show the color of the skin it covers, or the shape of the body which it is supposed to hide.
The purpose of 'ayah (24:31) is to hide the Muslim women's body except ma dhahara minha (the face and hands). It is obvious that this purpose cannot be served if the dress is thin enough so as to reveal the color of the skin or the shape or beauty of the body. This is eloquently explained by Prophet Muhammad pbuh: "In later (generations) of my urnmah there will be women who will be dressed but naked. On top of their heads (what looks) like camel humps. Curse them for they are truly cursed." In another version he added that they "will not enter into paradise or (even) get a smell of it." 13
At one occasion Asma' (daughter of Abu-Bakr) was visiting her sister 'A'ishah, wife of the Prophet. When he noted that Asma's dress was not thick enough he turned his face away in anger and said,"If the woman reaches the age of puberty, no part of her body should be seen, but this, and he pointed to his face and his hands." 14

4. The Fourth Requirement: Overall Appearance
The dress should not be such that it attracts men's attention to the woman's beauty. The Qur'an clearly prescribes the requirements of the woman's dress for the purpose of concealing zeenah (adornment). How could such zeenah be concealed if the dress is designed in a way that it attracts men's eyes to the woman?
This is why the Qur'an addressing the Prophet's wives as the examples for Muslim women says:
"Bedizen not yourselves with the bedizenment of the Time of Ignorance.. ."15

Additional Requirements 16
In addition to the above four main and clearly spelled out requirements, there are other requirements whose specific applications may vary with time and location. These include:
1. The dress should not be similar to what is known as a male costume. lbn 'Abbas narrated that "The Prophet cursed the men who act like women and the women who act like men. 17
2. It should not be similar to what is known as the costume of unbelievers. This requirement is derived from the general rule of Shari'ah that Muslims should have their distinct personality and should differentiate their practices and appearance from unbelievers. 18
3. The dress should not be similar to what is known as a male costume. lbn 'Abbas narrated that "The Prophet cursed the men who act like women and the women who act like men. 17
4. It should not be a dress of fame, pride and vanity. Such fame may be sought by wearing an excessively fancy dress as a status symbol or an excessively ragged dress to gain others' admiration of one's selflessness. Both motives are improper by Islamic standards. The Prophet pbuh says:
"Whoever wears a dress of fame in this world, Allah will clothe him with a dress of humiliation in the day of resurrection, then set it afire." 19

Requirements Of Muslim Men's Clothing
It should be noted that the basic requirements of the Muslim woman's dress apply as well to the Muslim man's clothing with the difference being mainly in degree. This can best be understood by looking into what Islam defines as 'awrah which refers to the part of the body that should be covered at all times unless there is an expressed exception. The covering of 'awrah is also a condition for the validity of prayers for both men and women.
It has been agreed among jurists on the basis of the Qur'an and Sunnah that 'awrah for the woman is defined as the whole body except for the face and hands. For the man, the 'awrah is defined as the area between the navel and the knees. 20
Within the definition of 'awrah for men and women, all the four basic requirements discussed in this paper are essentially the same:
1. Man should fully cover his 'awrah.
2. Men's clothes should be loose enough so as not to describe what he is covering (his 'awrah).
3. They should be thick enough so as not to describe the color of the skin or the parts required to be covered.
4. They should not be designed in a way to attract attention. The basic rule of modesty and avoiding "show off" applies to all believers men and women.
The three other additional requirements discussed under the Muslim woman's code of dress apply to men's clothes as well:
1. They should not be similar to what is known as the female dress.
2. They should not be similar to what could be identified as the dress of unbelievers.
3. They should not be clothes of fame, pride, and vanity.
In addition to the above limitations on the Muslim man's clothes, men are not allowed to wear silk and gold. This does not apply to women.
Conclusion
There are surely many other issues pertaining to the subjects that are not covered in this paper Its main focus is on the documented injunctions of Allah (subhanahu wat'ala) as derived from His word (the Qur'an) and as explained by the chosen Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him). These injunctions are to be complied with by all Muslim men and women; and in case of transgression, they will be held accountable in the hereafter. Truly husbands, fathers, and mothers do have an obligation to remind, exhort and help each other achieve the pleasure of Allah and to avoid His wrath. In the final analysis, however, it is not coercion or force which is likely to bring about obedience to Allah. It is but, the love of Allah, the acceptance of His guidance as the supreme Truth even if contrary to one's personal opinions, that will bring about the change.

2. A distinction should be made between,
a) the acceptance of Allah's word as true and supreme in itself while not succeeding to implement it fully in one's life hoping and trying to reach that goal, and
b) regarding one's own opinions or other social values and pressures as more valid than Allah's injunctions and trying to find various excuses to justify one's breaking of the law of Allah. It is the latter attitude which is not only blameworthy but akin to unbelief. Top

9. One weakness with this more stringent interpretation is that 'uncontrollable' factors are automatically forgiven without any need for specification. The fact that Qur'an 24:31 exempts from all "zeenah" that which is regarded as "ma dhahara minha" is itself an indication of a concession. Still on another occasion some women from the tribe of Bani Tameem came to visit 'A'ishah in thin clothes. The Complete Muslim Personality

It is well known and understood that Islam is a holistic system that impacts all areas of a person’s life. We hear this a lot but many times it is difficult to know exactly what it means and how it plays out in our lives.
On this topic Imam Hasan al-Banna has a beautiful, terse, but dense statement. He mentions that the first thing that the Muslim should be concerned with is the reform of herself or himself. Then he says, “A Muslim should strive to attain a strong body,
good character,
cultured thought.
He should be able to earn a living,
have pure belief,
and correct worship.
He should be able to control his desires,
be careful about his time, organized in his affairs,
and beneficial to those around him.
These comprise the duties of every Muslim as an individual.” 1These ten points provide a well-rounded approach to personal development according to the teachings of Islam.
Our health is a blessing and responsibility from Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala(exalted is He) and the level at which we take care of it affects all areas of our lives. If we are healthy then we think more clearly, we have more energy, and we are even stronger psychologically. However, at the same time, when we neglect our health we fall victim to all kinds of things like fatigue, psychological and spiritual struggles, and even cloudy thought. For these reasons it is foundational in the development of the well-rounded Muslim personality.
Out of this comes the first outward manifestation of the real quality of a person’s relationship with their Creator, character. The word used in Arabic, matīn, does not just mean good but also firm. It’s as if it implies that if a person has a really strong character then it does not only show in good times but also when things are difficult. This is a great measuring stick for us in our daily lives. When things are easy it is not difficult to maintain good conduct and treat people in the best way possible, but in the face of hardship, fatigue, frustration, disappointment, anger, and an array of other emotions it becomes much more difficult. The person who really has firm character can withstand these tests, but the one who is only putting on a show will always be known eventually.
After these two comes the third quality in the set of types of strengths that build the strong Muslim personality. The first strength was physical strength. The second was spiritual discipline, which is the foundation of good conduct. The third strength is intellectual and educational rigor: to be cultured in thought. This particular point is actually of the utmost importance and many times neglected by people who are perceived to be “religious.” The fact of the matter is that Islam is a system of life, informed by the teachings of the Divine, and embodied in the example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (peace be upon him). This example lived and existed in reality. The Muslim cannot cultivate a dynamic, powerful, meaningful, and impactful understanding of Islam without understanding reality. Islam is here to provide solutions to the problems that humans and mankind face. How can we understand that and actualize it without cultured thought? We cannot.
The fourth type of strength to be directed into the service of Islam is financial strength; hence, being able to earn a living. The reality of the matter is that it is very difficult to do anything when one is reliant upon others for their income or when their financial situation is so dire that they are occupied with essential issues like food, clothing, shelter, and health care. For these reasons it is important that the Muslim seeks to be able to take care of himself or herself so that they can be independent and capable in their service to Islam. Yes, some people will be poorer and others wealthier but all should seek some sort of financial stability.
After mentioning all of these points Imam al-Banna then moves on to say that the person should also have pure belief and correct worship. This is what directs all of those previously mentioned strengths. They are used in accordance with the guidelines and inspiration provided by pure belief and aided through constant and correct worship. From these sources the Muslim truly finds his or her direction and the kind of relationship with the Divine that is required in order to face the difficulties of service to the Truth. They are the well which quenches the spiritual thirst of the heart in its search for its natural inclination.
When all of these strengths are combined and held together with belief and worship the Muslim will find direction and mission in his or her life. This mission will require much from them and herein lies the secret of the last four characteristics. The first of these last four is that the Muslim is constant in fighting their base desires. In the struggle to worship Allah (swt) and live a righteous life there are endless difficulties and tests. Those tests are sometimes very clear and open but sometimes very subtle. They can be tests of sincerity, seeking praise, wanting appreciation from people, argumentation, and many others. These tests cannot be overcome except through a never-ending process of fighting one’s base desires.
The next of these characteristics are to be strict about one’s time and organized in one’s affairs. Time is life itself and the person that kills time only kills their self. This is why Hasan al-Baṣrī said, “O Son of Adam! You are nothing but a compilation of breaths and with each breath that passes, a piece of you is gone.” The well-rounded Muslim will also find that their responsibilities will always outweigh the amount of time that they have to fulfill them. For this reason the Muslim is always strict with their time and organized in their affairs so that they can reap the most benefit from this life before meeting their Lord in the next life.
The last characteristic is to be beneficial to others. This should be read twice. Everything that came before is lost if we are harmful to those around us. The scholars of Islam have said that the core objective of Islam is to acquire benefit. Everything that we do is in the service of Allah (swt) and all that He requires from us is only of pure benefit to us and all of mankind. Therefore, we should use this as a way to check ourselves and assess our impact on those around us, while seeking to understand not only through our own vision but through the teachings of the Divine.
May Allah (swt) help us to embody these characteristics and bless us with being able to manifest Islam in all of its wonderful beauty.

Who are the Inheritors 2

In this article we will examine inheritance, paying particular attention to rights and responsibilities as defined by Islamic law.
The money and the property that we possess in this life is a trust from God and our responsibility to use it for His sake extends beyond our death, for on the day of Judgement we will surely be asked about our wealth and how we spent it.
The two feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Judgement in front of his Lord until he is asked about five things: about his life, and how he lived it? About his youth, and how he lived it? And about his money, how did he earn it? And what did he spend it on? And what did he do with his knowledge? [1]
In Islam the heirs to a person’s estate can take two forms. There are the fixed share inheritors, these are those who percentage of the share is explicitly mentioned in Chapter 4 of the Quran (for example, for the husband, half or one-fourth, depending upon if there are children or not), and there are the residual inheritors, who will receive the balance of the estate once the fixed shares have been calculated.
“God commands you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers (or sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequeathed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit; (these fixed shares) are ordained by God. And God is Ever All-Knower, All-Wise.” (Quran 4:11)
Islamic scholars have derived several essential instructions from this verse, the most important being:
·Debts and bequests are taken from the estate before division amongst the heirs.
·A son receives twice as much as a daughter.
·If the deceased children are female only they receive two-thirds of the estate divided equally among them. The leftover would also be returned to them if there are no residual heirs.
·If the deceased is survived by only one daughter, she receives half the estate. The leftover would also be returned to them if there are no residual heirs.
·If there are children, parents receive one-sixth of the estate each.
·In the absence of children, if the deceased leaves siblings, (maternal or paternal) the mother then receives one-sixth.
·In the absence of children and siblings the mother then receives one-third of the estate.
“In that which your wives leave, your share is a half if they have no child; but if they leave a child, you get a fourth of that which they leave after payment of legacies that they may have bequeathed or debts. In that which you leave, their (your wives) share is a fourth if you leave no child; but if you leave a child, they get an eighth of that which you leave after payment of legacies that you may have bequeathed or debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a (maternal) brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third, after payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, so that no loss is caused (to anyone). This is a Commandment from God; and God is Ever All-Knowing, Most-Forbearing.” (Quran 4: 12)
Once again Islamic scholars have derived a number of rulings from this verse.
·If a married woman dies without children her husband receives half of her estate; if there are children he receives one-fourth.
·A wife is a woman who was married to the deceased when he died. If there is more than one (maximum four) their share is divided equally. A wife’s share of her husband’s estate is one-quarter – if there are no offspring; if there are, her share is one-eighth.
·The shares for males and females of the same rank (brother and sister, son and daughter etc.) are that the males receive twice as much as the females.
·The maternal siblings are the only exception to the above rule. If there is only one maternal sibling, he or she receives one-sixth. If there are two or more, they share one-third.
What is becoming more and more obvious, as we learn about the Islamic rules of inheritance is that it is a bit complex. It is for this reason that it is wise to both research and get advice from someone familiar with the Islamic laws of inheritance. The complexity also serves to remind us of the importance of making a will. When the rules have been so explicitly set out by God Himself, it would be unwise to leave the handling of an estate to someone not familiar with the deceased wishes or rules set by God.
Finally, when preparing for, or writing a will take into consideration the way the Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, and his companions disposed of their wealth.
A man came to the Prophet and asked,“Which charity is the most superior in reward?” He replied, “The charity which you give out while you are healthy and are afraid of poverty and wish to become wealthy. Do not delay it to the time of approaching death and then say, ‘Give so much to such and such, and so much to such and such.’” [2]
·Do not delay giving charity until you feel unwell and fear that death may be approaching. Because, at death it becomes too late, for your wealth is no longer yours, it belongs to your inheritors.
·Your wealth is yours to dispose of in whatever way that you see fit. If there are people or organisations or charities you would like to help you can do this at any time. There is no need to wait for your death or impending death.

Islamic Inheritance and Wills 1

Islam is much more than a religion; it is a way of life. Islam is guidance from God that directs us through life, and God willing into the next life. It is for this reason that God also guides us through the process of death and dying. Death will come to each and every one of us; however there are things we can do to make our passing easier for those we leave behind. One of those things is to make sure we leave an Islamically sound will. Islam has placed great emphasis on both the laws of inheritance and making a will, thus there is compelling evidence that every sane adult Muslim should have a will.
“It is the duty of a Muslim who has anything to bequeath not to let two nights pass without writing a will.” [1]
“A man may do good deeds for seventy years but if he acts unjustly when he leaves his last testament, the wickedness of his deed will be sealed upon him, and he will enter the Fire. If, (on the other hand), a man acts wickedly for seventy years but is just in his last will and testament, the goodness of his deed will be sealed upon him, and he will enter the Garden.” [2]
The Islamic will, in Arabic,al wasiyahis a set of instructions that come into effect after a person’s death. The will is acted upon after the payment of funeral expenses and any outstanding debts.
“…of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt.…” (Quran 4:12)
Islamic law allows a person to bequeath up to 1/3 (one third) of his or her estate to whomever he or she wishes, providing the beneficiaries are not from amongst those who will benefit from the remaining 2/3 (two thirds). Those who are entitled to the final two thirds of the estate are set out in chapter 4 of the Quran. When one of Prophet Muhammad’s close companions suffered from a severe illness he asked how much of his vast wealth he should bequeath as a gift because he only had one daughter who qualified to be an inheritor under Islamic law. The Prophet, may God praise him, stated one third and said,“It is better to leave them rich rather than poor and destitute”. [3]
A person should take his obligations seriously and think about who could benefit from his or her bequests. It is an opportunity to perhaps help a poor relative who would not otherwise qualify for a share or even to leave something to a person of another faith, because they cannot inherit from the other two thirds of the estate.
“The followers of two different religions may not inherit from each other.’ [4]
Nowadays there are many qualified people that can help one write a will that fulfils all of the Islamic obligations. In fact the Islamic laws of inheritance have been praised and copied by many individuals and law firms, and academics in the Africa. Consider this statement by a leading British university Professor Almaric Rumsey from Kings College in London, England:
“The Muslim law of inheritance comprises beyond question the most refined and elaborate set of rules for the devolution of property that is known to the western world.” When an estate is divided according to this divine system of law that is outlined in the Quranic text and in the traditions of the Prophet, it would be highly rewarding in the sigh tof God. Besides this, there are a number of compelling reasons why a person should make an Islamically acceptable will. Firstly it gives a person peace of mind to know that their wishes will be carried out after their death. It helps resolve or avoid completely the unnecessary disputes that sometimes occur after a person’s death.
A will also makes financial sense. If a person dies without a will it is called having died intestate and this means the wealth will be distributed according to the laws of the country in which the person lived. This may or may not be in an Islamic fashion depending upon where in the world the deceased person resided. Consider the situation, God forbid, where a married couple dies leaving young children, if there is no will, and thus no guardians appointed, the courts have an overwhelming say in where those children are placed. No will means that such children’s lives, both now and in the hereafter could be in peril, should guardianship be given to someone not Islamically suitable.
An Islamic will gives a person the opportunity to help those less fortunate. He or she can assure that the charities they supported in their life are not neglected at their time of death. A will helps not only the beneficiaries, but can help the deceased person too who may wish to set up provision for an ongoing charity, an action that continues to be rewarded even after death. In accordance with the principle that one third of a person’s estate may be distributed as he or she wishes the prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, said,“God was being generous to you when He allowed you to give one-third of your wealth (in charity) when you die, to increase your good deeds.” [5]
“When a man dies his actions come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity; knowledge that benefits others or pious offspring who pray for him”. [6]
As with any legal document an Islamic will must be witnessed. A person making a will should choose his witnesses carefully, remembering that a person who inherits is not able to be a witness. If he or she does so they will not be able to inherit. The ideal situation would be to choose two trustworthy Muslim men to witness the signing of the will. However if this is not possible, then two non-Muslim men may be taken as witnesses.
In most cases it is possible to make an Islamic will that is legally acceptable in almost any part of the world. Islamic wills have been praised for their thoroughness and the fact that they are almost never considered uncertain.
In the following article we will look more closely at the verses in Quran that set out the laws of inheritance.

1914 DOCUMENT PREDICTS A POSSIBLE BREAK UP OF NIGERIA IN 2014

Certain documents signed into law at the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914 indicate that the country was created as an experiment meant to last for 100 years, and break up if the peoples are not compatible. The documents, known as ’Tinubu Square Edict’ or Accord of 1914 was said to be similar to the British/China accord of Hong Kong to be enforced for a centenial reign. Although the documents were not made available to Jungle Journalist, a summary of it was obtained and is herein published. However, Jungle Journalist cannot say for certain whether such documents truly exist:
“The amalgamation of southern and northern Nigeria by the British was to be experimented for 100 YEARS to know if it’s going to work or not, according to the secret government document the British left after independence.
Although the document is kept secret, this fact is generally known to the ruling class, most dons of political science and law as well as the government of UK. However, there has been consistent efforts by Nigerian government to keep this knowledge out of public as it may lead to agitation for breaking the country into two; pre-1914 status especially by those in the south.
The awareness of this document and the closeness of 2014 has been causing panic among the Northern elites; this panic was behind the recent comment by the senate president that Nigeria will not break up.
It was also behind the warning by NBA president when he said in Benin recently that Nigeria may break-up. Even President Jonathan is nervous about this fact; remember that he kept on saying that Nigeria will not break-up. Also, it was the real reason behind the northern governors recent security meeting in Kaduna, according to some sources.
All these sudden talks about Nigeria breaking or not breaking up by the political leaders including the president show how anxious they are about the implications of the document and the closeness of almighty 2014. On the international scene, the knowledge of this document was behind the prediction by American diplomats that Nigeria will break-up in 2015. The US army is also preparing on how to respond to the possible break up of Nigeria.” There are strong indications that the United States of America, USA, may be gearing up for a possible balkanisation of the country following developments in the last few years.
This indication is contained in a publication credited to NEWSRESCUE in America, where accounts of an article written by Director of the African Security Research Project in Washington, DC and Guest Columnist of AllAfrica Global Media, Mr. Daniel Volman and speakers in an AFRICOM conference held at Fort McNair were given.
It would be recalled that in 2005, the US predicted that Nigeria would cease to be a nation state in 2015 in view of threats posed by continued ethno-religiouscrisis over the years. Similarly, the United States military had, in May 2008, conducted a war games test called Unified Quest 2008, to ascertain how its military might respond to a war in parts of Africa with a mention of Nigeria.
Also, the question of how to handle possible splits between factions within the Nigerian government was tested with a plan by the Americans to send about 20,000 troops to secure and take over the oil-rich South while the North would be turned into an Arab aligned, possibly terrorist enclave.
In fulfilling this planned program, a top US general visited Nigeria recently and issues of Boko Haram were discussed. President Gooluck Jonathan also asked for US support in resolving such problems

Women Whom Men Should Not Marry

Awesome Interesting Useful Boring Sucks
Most Muslims know the famous saying of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) in which he mentioned that a woman can be married for wealth, status, beauty, or her religion and that her religion (piety) was the most important factor to consider.
Scholars have expounded upon this by adding to the understanding of the types of women a man should not marry. The great jurist of the last century Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-Uthaymeen taught Muslim menthat seven types of women should not be married:

1)Al-Annaanah:
The woman who whines, moans, and complains and ties a band around her head all the time meaning that she complains of a headache or some illness but in reality she is feigning illness.

2)Al-Mannaanah:
The woman who bestows favours and gifts upon her husband then in the future reminds him “I did such and such for you or on your behalf or because of you”.

3)Al-Hannaanah:
The woman who yearns for her former husband or children of her former husband.

4)Kay’atul-Qafaa:
The woman who has a brand mark on the nape of her neck meaning she has a bad reputation or doubts about her.

5)Al-Haddaaqah:
The woman who casts her eyes at things meaning she is always looking at something to purchase, then desires it, and then requires her husband to buy it no matter what.

6)Al-Barraaqah:
The women who spends much of her day enhancing her face and beautifying it to such an extent that it will seem like it was manufactured.

7)Al-Shaddaaqah:
The woman who talks excessively.

His eminence outlined this advice to the men of the Muslim nation and for that the nation is much obliged. To that I can add the following modern phenomenon that requires careful consideration:
1)Twitterer:
A woman who uses a twitter account for anything that is not related to keeping in touch with her relatives or for professional work (e.g. a gynecologist tweeting child birth advice). Our advice is to stay clear from twitter users who use it for non-family or non-professional reasons. Some women use twitter to stay connected to Islam and Islamic knowledge but they quickly fall into useless conversation and openly flirt with and/or praise their Shuyookh/teachers on twitter. If a woman does not have a Twitter account move her up your list.

2)Facebookers:
Facebook is now one of the leading conduits of the break-up of marriages. Any woman who has pictures of herself displayed on her Facebook page should be automatically disqualified. If she is not shy to have millions of men feast their eyes on her then groom beware! If she is using Facebook for strictly business or for staying in touch with only her female friends and her relatives then an exception can be made. If a woman does not have a Facebook account move her up your list.

3)Professional/Career types:Muslim scholars of classical times and contemporary times have explained that a woman has no need to go outside the home to earn a living. Her father, brother, grandfather, husband, son are all there to provide for her. Career Muslim women will say Khadeejah bint Khuwaylid (RA) worked. In fact she hired men to work on her behalf. She was not out in the markets bartering and trading. Even speakers such as Yasir al-Qadhi have stated that women should not work exceptin a couple of professions such as teaching girls and gynecology. Muslim women marriage counselors have stated that a major cause of disruption in marriages is the inflexibility of the career wife. Avoid career women who go out to corporate offices and intermingle with men in the course of their work. If a woman loves home making, cooking, cleaning, and raising children move her up your list.

4)Temperamental types:
Any woman who cannot check her emotions and is prone to frequent angry fits over little things should be avoided at all costs. If a woman’s temperament is cool as a cucumber move her up your list.

5)Non-virgins:
Do not marry a woman who lost her virginity outside marriage or even engaged in any sexual exploits such as kissing and such outside marriage. According to psychologists these women have attachment issues, tremendous baggage, and may compare you to her previous lover(s). If she was previously married or widowed or if she is a convert then there is no harm in marrying her. If a woman did not lose her virginity to anything except a marriage then move her up your list.

6)Truculent types:
The last thing you want is a woman who argues with you about every insignificant thing. There are women who know when to back off from an argument to keep peace in the home and there are those that will want to have their way. Avoid at all costs the truculent types. If a woman is wise and non-argumentative move her up your list.

7)Non-hijabis:
Do not marry non-hijabis. Too many men have married a non-hijabi because she promised she’ll wear a hijab afterwards but that never materialized and he’s left in embarrassment as his friends can see his wife’s hair and the shape of her bosoms and hips. Just don’t fall into that trap. If a woman wears hijab, move her up your list.
8)Non-haya types:You can spot these women easily. They may even be wearing hijab. But they do not have any shyness when talking to a man. They will ease into a conversation with a stranger man in her college class or work or public just as easily as she would ease into a conversation with a woman. This is not her fault. She was raised in an inclusive environment where men and women are ‘equal’ and so her dealings with men and women are also identical. If the woman you are talking to for marriage blushes or lowers her eyes instinctively when you say “Salaam” to her then move her to the top of your list.
9)Daughters of men who are in haram professions:If a woman’s father is a banker, loan officer, pork farmer, gas station owner who sells lottery tickets and alcohol, brothel owner, night club owner, pays interest on his house or pays interest on business loans then avoid marrying his daughter if she sees nothing wrong with those professions/transactions. Your wife will be the mother of your children and will teach your children what is acceptable and what is not. If she deems nothing wrong with those professions steer clear. If a woman is the daughter of a man who is in a halal profession then move her up your list.
10)Contemptuous feminist types:While feminism in general has died a protracted death in America, Muslim feminism is currently riding a wave. If a woman you are talking to for marriage shows signs that if she were asked to make a sandwich and tea for you on a Saturday morning she would not do so except as a chore or begrudgingly then steer clear. In fact you shouldn’t even have to ask her. It should come naturally. Just as naturally as you go to work 40 hours a week for the family. There are two types of women. Those who consider home making a humiliating chore and those who love to please their man by making him dinner and soothing conversation after a long day or after a long week. There are niqabi women who have come on CNN and proudly boasted that they make their husbands do the dishes. If you are an impuissant man and can deal with that then all clear. If you cannot then steer clear of the women who wear the pants in the family because our Prophet Muhammad (S) has stated that the man is the leader of the family. The leading cause of American Muslim men going abroad to marry brides is the high percentage of contemptuous feminists in the marriage pool in America. If a woman feels happy about the thought of pleasing her husband then move her to the top of your list.
There are a lot of other considerations and guidelines provided in the Sunnah and the eager bachelor is urged to add to his knowledge by researching further. I pray that Allah grants you a beautiful pious home maker(s) who will be the delight of your eyes and the coolness of your soul.
